We wish to launch the Abbey on a process of cultural, social and economic  development which will guarantee its continuity and its adoption by the population and by future generations.

These subscriptions help to support the built heritage through :  

  • „  Organisation ofevents
  • „  Carrying out of maintenance work in the exhibition rooms of the museum

♦ Sponsorship

The association supported the municipality’s project in the competition launched by the departmental council (conseil général) and the prefecture:   “Sponsoring heritage projects in Lot-et-Garonne”. From among 82 submissions, 20 projects were selected by a jury of professionals. Saint Maurin’s submission was on this short-list.   

Saint Maurin’s project is to protect what still exists of the Abbey buildings, whether public or private, as swiftly as possible, by :

  • continuing the long-term programme of restoration of the buildings belonging to the commune, then for the privately-owned buildings (after having acquired ownership of them)
  • giving meaning to the site
  • encouraging communication about the heritage
  • making the site accessible to all disabled people.

To meet these objectives, three stages have been identified :

  • the preservation of the built heritage
  • the development of a stopping point on the Cluniac route
  • the development of a comprehensive cultural project.
